Why get coaching?

Like virtually all sports, getting coaching in table tennis is critical to rapid skill development. In general, the earlier a player can start receiving coaching, the better they will play, since they are less likely to develop bad habits that are hard to unlearn.

Everyone should try to get some coaching, even if it's only from the other local club players. For example, even a regular practice partner of around your own skill level will quite likely have some insights into strengths and weaknesses of your game.

How many coaches should I have?

Short answer: as many as possible. Table tennis is a very complex sport, so all coaches will not agree on every issue, and often a coach may have a unique insight into some aspect of the game. By getting as diverse a coaching experience as possible, you will have a better chance to learn the skills and techniques that work best for you.

USATT-certified coaches

The USATT has a table tennis coaching certification program that can help you select a qualified coach. Certified coaches are required to take tests that verify knowledge of basic table tennis techniques so that you don't have to rely on just a prospective coach's rating alone as a measure of his table tennis teaching ability.

Coaches by Region

There are several other lists on the web of table tennis coachs, but I decided to add a list here, since the pages can be easily changed by the coaches themselves. To be included in this list, please just add a link to your name page and put the information about your coaching on that page, just to keep things consistent.
